House Concert- You’re Invited!

I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting a house concert featuring our friends Steve Lawson & his lovely wife Lobelia at our home on May 31, 2010. Steve is a solo bass player. Never heard of solo bass? You’re in for a treat. Lobelia’s ethereal voice blends and compliments Steve’s playing- it’s something I [...]

My Top 30 Songs of the Aughts

Is it really the end of the decade? Technically no, but “best of the decade” lists are everywhere so I jumped on board. I started just going through my iTunes and grabbing songs, then I whittled it down, and whittled it down- and found I couldn’t get the list any smaller than this. It still [...]

Record Store Day at Vintage Vinyl in NJ

Had lots of fun visiting Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ yesterday for Record Store Day. They had live music, including The Color Fred & Willie Nile. Nice size crowd (of all ages!) turned out. Pat was on a camping trip with our kids but I met up with my friend Mike, a Vintage Vinyl veteran, [...]

Got this and a few others while I was there! Also came across these awesome Twitter plates while browsing catalogs. [...]

His sound was so much a part of what Bruce & the Band created. We’ll miss you, Danny.

Mixed message

Jeff Pulver attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions and writes that the swag bag that attendees received contained a CD of music from inductees, as well as a package of 30 blank CDs. Jeff writes I am still trying to understand what the meta message was from the Rock Hall of giving [...]

How JoCo Did It

I’ve been a fan of Jonathan Coulton for awhile now, which in internet years is about six or eight months, maybe? I first came across Coulton via the audiobook version of John Hodgman’s The Areas of My Expertise, which was a free download at iTunes for awhile (coincidently I’d just purchased the actual book, so [...]

Positive Pop

Blogcritics has posted a list of the Top 25 Positive Songs of Popular Music. After a long, drab, winter, postive songs are just what I need! You can find the full list here, but I’m going to riff on the songs that resonate with me, likely because they bring back moments in my own life. [...]

Making a difference costs 99 cents

I’m late to this party (not too late!) but this is pretty awesome. Bum Rush the Charts is an effort by a group of podcasters to get a specific independent song to the top of the iTunes chart on Thursday March 22. That’s tomorrow. Why? Well, this is what the site says: Podcasting gets little [...]
