Bizarre email I just received- almost poetry.

Bizarre email I just received- almost poetry.

 subject:Ayuda – Help

Hello

Please forgive me if this annoy you; i probably don't know you and i'm sending you an e-mail. I couldn't think something better. This isn't to sell you someting or for publicity. And i won't send you another. It's just to inform you about things of the reality that are happening and if interest you to ask you for an idea.
This mail is caused by the pain i'm living. I think i'm being destroyed by the mafia power that want to take the world for themselves.
And like me i guess all are defenseless forehead this thing, because the way that they use to do they purpose are implicit and you can't fight them with the law because nothing can be probed.
The worst of all, besides of change the way of be of my family, friends and neighbors is the damage of my healt, i loose memory, sleep very bad and loosing my shight and personality among other things.
I gues they can use occult things of nature like black magic.
…Really although there is more than 10 years that i discoverded this "mafia power" i couldn't understand what's really going on. But may be a sinister control plan.
This are some of the things they can do:
Provoke traffic accidents.
Wash your brain, make you feel thing that aren't from your personality; "injected feelings".
Invade your private life. Read your thinkings.
Convert yourself in a autistic. Making you feel spiritual solitude.
Manipulate you with his "camouflage weapons": blue lights (and maybe other colors too) in cars, phones, computers. Strange things in food and other things that i don't know what really do but seems to go across air and from people to people. Also there's something in building materials and gasoline. In the smoke, the breath, the dentifrice, perfume, cigarettes, the sex.
They use communication means to make his purposes, they can send "codified messages"
Use against you persons that make they volition and are in the police or the army and have too "camouflage weapons" in cars, handys and lights; that can dry your head or make you forious, among other things.
They can make you feel cold and keep you awake in night.
Rape you.
Intoxicate you.
I would like to attach an idea to fight this, but i can't the situation is exceeding me.
If anyone feel interested by this and want to tell me something it will be very welcome.

Not a photo of the sky

Yes, I’m aware that the last two posts to my blog have been iPhone photos of the sky, and yes, I’m aware this isn’t the most compelling content.

But at least it’s content! I’m in reshuffling mode, reprioritizing, trying to cut out the extra noise. Been in this mode for awhile I guess, which is probably worth blogging about!

But not tonight :) .

A flowchart. Geeky.

I created this chart to get a better idea of what goes where and to cut down on duplicates posting to Facebook & Twitter. I don’t think I can eliminate all dupes yet, as long as I want to keep my blog going anyway. Keeping friendfeed out of my facebook minifeed helps! This update is really just part of my experimentation. I’m posting it from my iphone via posterous. I should go outside & play, huh?

The wobbling has let up and the brain has kicked in.

I guess I’m no longer being buffeted by memory-fed emotions. I’ve always been such a “look forward” vs look back person, so it was a bit like being on an out of control rollercoaster. Things have most definitely calmed down. But it was quite a ride.

comfort moonThere’s nothing going on in my life that makes me long for the past, or want to play the “what-if” game, so that’s not what happened. In fact I feel more settled than I did even six months ago, when a bunch of little stressful things happened at once (similar to the rest of the world as the economy nose-dived!) But my family is great, my marriage is great, my business is picking up, (the weather is pretty lousy… ;) .)

It was so strange, in fact, that I’ve been trying to analyze myself, in that amateur psychologist way. A bad idea, of course, but I’m doing it anyway.

Was it an age thing? A mid-life (non)crisis? I think it was, partly. You start to realize that you likely have fewer years left than you’ve already lived (I could live past 90, but then, I could die today.) I think being tossed back in time by reconnecting with long-lost friends certainly brings time into the fore-front.

I prefer, of course, to consider it an experience thing. It’s not just about memories and looking back but more about personal connections & friendships. Holding close those who share my sensibilities, and sense of humor. Being grateful that people who I missed but had shoved back into the recesses of my brain, simply due to the passage of time, have reappeared (thanks, Facebook!); some who were the best friends I’ve ever had, some who fell more into the category of acquaintances but who are developing into true friends all these years later. Yes, one status update or Facebook conversation at a time!

And bonus! A better appreciation for all my friends, the ones I’ve had for years and the ones I’ve had for weeks (because one of the things I take away from all this is that the deepest connections with other people can be forged in the blink of an eye, and once they’re made they remain with you forever.)

One thing that plays into this is technology, of course. I’ve always, probably to my detriment, been a lazy friend. I was never good at being the one to make plans, and I’ve never liked the phone. Even as a teen I would never call a friend just to talk, much preferring to write long, rambly letters. Heck, even Pat & I rarely spoke on the phone all those years we spent going to different schools and seeing each other only a couple times a month.

That’s probably why I leaped into bulletin boards, forums, email lists, and eventually Twitter and Facebook. It’s just more comfortable for me to relate to people this way, a better fit. Fortunately there are a lot of other people who are the same, apparently! Although I’m still a lazy friend, sad to say. So thanks for sticking with me…

So yes, there are friends I may never reconnect with because they don’t have any interest in connecting with me where I am (the web), and I of course don’t want to go where they are (phone calls). It’s sad, sure, but it’s also reality, and I’m nothing if not a realist.

I’ve done a lot of writing over the past month, but most of it has gone under the delete key once it was out of my brain and fingers. The simple act of spilling it all out was enough, and I didn’t see the point of pushing Publish.

But this one is going public.

Mostly web geek stuff

Unbelievable how busy I am all of a sudden. Remember last summer when I was worried because I had no active clients for almost 2 months? Ha, those were the days…

I expected today to be a fun one down in Philly, we had luxury box tickets for the Mets v Phillies game, but alas, the rains came. And so did a hacker apparently, so instead I spent most of today rebuilding pixelcurrents.com.

But that’s done, at least for now. I could get started on some of the HUGE amount of work I have to get done this week. Or I could nap. Or I could see who’s around to have a chat with. But I’m very overdue for a post to my poor little blog. Just wish I had more interesting news to tell!

I’ve really been enjoying the little social networking presentations we’ve been giving at local libraries. We’re getting good-sized crowds, must be a hot topic! I keep changing my presentation based on the feedback I’m getting, which is cool, I wasn’t really focused in the first place. With so many of us participating we’ve been a little repetitive, so I’m happy to change and adapt. I threw in some information about RSS last week and I think I’ll spend more time on it in the future- it’s such a great way to save time online, but so few people understand it. In a room of maybe 30 people, only two or three raised their hand when I asked how many knew how RSS works.

We web geeks live in such a tiny bubble.

In other web geek news, I’ve been seriously dropping the ball as an early adopter. I’m giving the new service Nutritter a try, but to be honest thinking about what I’m eating, while it should probably be high on my list, just isn’t. I love the idea of easily keeping track of what you eat, and sharing that to help keep you on track, but I’m just not there right now. Sorry, Sim!

And I’m also testing out Seesmic Desktop to access both Twitter and Facebook. I like the idea of it, but it’s still not working for my needs. The one thing Tweetdeck has that I’ve grown to love is the ability to send a message to both Twitter and Facebook, or not, on a message by message basis. I sometimes forget to uncheck the Facebook box, but in general I’ve found that the easiest way to participate with people who aren’t on both services (and that’s a lot of my friends!) Seesmic Desktop lets me post to Facebook but not at the same time as Twitter. Although I do love that I can access multiple accounts (I have accounts for Basement Vinyl and Push My Follow) and the grouping seems a little easier to use than Tweetdeck’s.

Maybe I’ll take that nap now :) .

Hittin’ the road

facebook visualizedBeginning tomorrow night I’ll be part of a traveling panel of social media-minded folk who will go traipsing from library to library offering our wisdom to the masses for FREE! We start in Edison NJ, then on to Highland Park and Franklin Township the following Thursdays.

I’ll be talking about how much fun I’ve had over the years meeting so many of you awesome people inside my computer, hopefully encouraging those on the fence to give it a try.

If you’re in the area come say hi :) .

Record Store Day at Vintage Vinyl in NJ

Had lots of fun visiting Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ yesterday for Record Store Day. They had live music, including The Color Fred & Willie Nile. Nice size crowd (of all ages!) turned out.

Pat was on a camping trip with our kids but I met up with my friend Mike, a Vintage Vinyl veteran, to comb through the stacks and see what I could find. I was looking for some David Bowie- shockingly we don’t have any Bowie! None to be found (well, one, and Mike bought it!) but I did find a few items to fill some holes in our collection, including the No Nukes concert LP, the first Dire Straits record, and Squeeze Singles 45s & Under. Also grabbed a copy of Paul Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years, which I used to borrow from the library! Finally have one of my own.
Record Store Day schwag from Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ

Also received a bag full of schwag, including some new music to check out and a few 45s. Nice!

I took some video of The Color Fred singing Hate to See You Go and Willie Nile doing Buddy Holly’s I’m Gonna Love You, Too. Enjoy!
