About

Welcome to banannie!

A little about me-
I’m a married mom to three “big kids.” My husband and I have been together since we were sixteen (“aww”) and our three sons are 18, 15, and 10 years old. We live with The Cutest Dog In The World® in central New Jersey suburban paradise.

I “off-ramped” almost two decades ago to raise my kids. When I had a rare free moment during the time I was out of the paid work-force I kept busy with volunteer work, and taught myself web design. What began has a hobby has developed into a career I love.

I built my first website in 1995, and I suppose you could call me a proto-mommy blogger, since of course not even Dave Winer was blogging back then. My Web Page of a Mad Housewife (links to archived version) was written up in the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times , and the Sacramento Bee (again, all links are to archived versions of the originals, feel free to click through to see what the web used to look like.) I began blogging in August of 2003 at What Struck Me, and in March 2007, itching for a change (a recurring theme…) I started banannie. I think it’s pretty cool that when you type “banannie” into Google and click the lucky button- you come here.

I currently run my own business, Pixel Currents. I’m a web designer and consultant, most recently focusing on the WordPress platform and the use of social networking tools. Hire me!

When I’m not working or being the wife & mom I’m usually playing on the Internet. You can find me (and please do say hi!) on Twitter, Flickr… just google banannie and don’t hit the lucky button- I’m all over the place (along with a few other banannies of course, but I’m the “lucky” one!)
