Facebook: My Real Name Update

I get a lot of hits via search engines to this post, from (I assume) women wondering whether and how to add their maiden name to their Facebook profile.

So I thought I’d add an update to let you know that Facebook has a new(ish) field in your account settings that lets you add an alternate name to your profile, so people searching for you under an different name can find you.

So I’ve removed my maiden name from the middle name field and now use the alternate name field instead (I was known as Anne back in the day, Annie was a late-blooming nickname .)

On my profile both names appear.

So there ya go, googlers, bingers, and other searchers!
