I need to have new business cards made. I have some left but I expect they’ll run out midway through PodCamp NYC next month.
But I’m stuck. I currently have two different cards. One promotes this site, meaning ME. The other is for Pixel Currents, my web design business, which is also… ME.
I don’t want to try to shove two cards at people when I meet them, so I’m only having one made. But I’m stuck.
How do I make cards that promote my business but make it clear that I am the business? Because that’s important- my business isn’t just a job for me, it’s my connection to a world I very much enjoy being a part of. It’s an umbrella under which I want to develop new projects and work with other people, but it’s still ME.
I plan to get Moo Cards, which are about half the size of a regular business card. I’d like to keep them simple, but get my point across.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

You need double-sided cards! I’ve actually seen these. Mostly, consultants on long-term assignment use them. One side is their card for the consulting company (which is often THEM!) and the other side is what they do at the company for which they’ve got a long-term assignment going on.

Hey B:
I’ve been mulling over Chris Brogan’s comment that Moo cards are easily lost and one should use regular-sized cards, but I like that for twenty bucks, I can customize 100 cards to an event or conference. I tend to hand those out first and then if a more serious conversation evolves, share my biz card.
Your larger question really hits the nail on the whole transitional issue today of brand associations with companies vs. individuals. I think you need to decide what best represents your brand–you in terms of your reputation and authority, or your company. So if your online persona, Banannie, or Annie Boccio, drives your brand, your company, website, and blog(s) need to be subordinated under that, I guess.
Me, I’m a very big beleiver in the Annie Boccio brand!

Thanks for the feedback, it really helps. In the end I think they need to be for the business, because people outside of the fish bowl aren’t all that interest in ME, just in what I can do for them- and I do that under the Pixel Currents umbrella.
Time to get designing!
